The SimonsHoogte Experience

Compliance

Corporate Governance

SimonsHoogte (Pty) Ltd is obligated by law to comply with the South African Companies Act 71 of 2008 which regulates the incorporation, registration, organisation and management of companies.

Good Agricultural Practice (GAP)

The four pillars of GAP are economic viability, environmental sustainability, social acceptability and food safety and quality. The objectives of GAP include improving the level of income and life quality of the local population by utilising the local region’s resources; eliminating development disparities that may exist between the local region and other parts of the country, and contributing to national economic development and social stability within the region and across the country. An audit trail of produce includes cultivator identification, sowing date, transplant date, the substrate, fertilizer applied, water samples and the frequency of biological pesticides or insecticides, IF applied. The growing environment is managed by the Priva digital climate control system covering temperature, humidity, day length, and light intensity.

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)

GMP covers a wide range of issues including record keeping, personnel qualifications, sanitation, cleanliness, equipment verification, process validation, and complaint handling. The most recognisable aspect of GMP is known as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which provide and ensure adherence to written procedures and critical instructions. SOPs ensure that routines are followed providing accurate documentation of work to meet compliance and traceability requirements covering harvesting, trimming, drying, curing, and eventually packing and distribution. The Quality Control team provides oversight to these processes ensuring that standards are met and regulations complied with.
